Offering a hearty morning meal is a big marketing tactic in these value-conscious times. From Holiday Inn Express to Hampton Inn, budget hotel chains all claim that their free hot or continental breakfasts are the best.
We have found that many of the budget chains actually offer a decent free breakfast. Some offer a full complimentary hot breakfast with eggs, french toast and pancakes while most go for the continental breakfast including pastry items, bagels and coffee. In fact, many of the budget hotels chains use the free breakfast as a major marketing tools to get travelers to come into their hotels. From TV commercials to massive road signage, these budget hotels are doing everything they can to make travels aware of their free breakfasts. We have compiled a list of the various budget chains out there and the types and quality of the free breakfasts they offer. In no particular order, here they are.
Holiday Inn Express - All North American Holiday Inn Express hotels offer the free Express Start® Breakfast Bar. This free breakfast provides hot options as well as the standard continental fare. The hot breakfast includes fluffy scrambled eggs or cheese omelets, crispy bacon, sausage patties or sausage gravy (Not available at Holiday Inn Express hotels in Canada) and biscuits. Also included is the Holiday Inn Express signature cinnamon rolls and 100% Arabica Smart Roast® Coffee. On the continental side Holiday Inn serves up fresh bananas, assorted yogurts, hard-boiled eggs, a variety of breakfast breads & cereals and a selection of fruit juices and skim and 2% milk. Most Holiday Inn Express will also allow you to take your breakfast on the go!
Staybridge Suites - Every day at a Staybridge Suite hotel, a complimentary hot breakfast buffet gets you going with a not-so-everyday spread, featuring a variety of savory delights and Wolfgang Puck Coffee. The breakfast buffet starts Monday thru Friday at 6:30AM on on the weekends at 7:30AM. The breakfast buffet includes both hot and cold items. Staybridge Suites® hotels offer amenities that give our guests the comforts and warmth of home along with the conveniences of the office, while offering favorable rates on extended stays.
Hampton Inn Hotels - Focused on raising the bar in customer service Hampton Inn Hotels offers a free breakfast buffet including hot items to the daily "On the House" continental breakfast. Hampton Inn complimentary breakfasts also offers a hot breakfast on the go for free. Originally, Hampton hotels were given great latitude to customize the room decor and free hot breakfasts to suit local tastes. However, since the acquisition by Hilton Hotels Corporation, the brand has focused on providing a consistent experience among all hotels in order to best meet guest expectations of quality service and comfortable accommodations.
Homewood Suites by Hilton - Homewood Suites offer a full service complementary hot breakfast (eggs cooked to order, Ham, bacon, sausage, potatoes, etc.). "At Homewood Suites by Hilton®, we want to help you start the day off right-so much that guests can enjoy a daily complimentary Suite Start® hot breakfast. At the end of your busy day, a Welcome Home® reception awaits you featuring a complimentary light meal and beverages Monday through Thursday evenings in the relaxed atmosphere of our Lodge." Homewood’s breakfast offering included everything from scrambled eggs to oatmeal, fruit and a good variety of cereal, breads, butters/jams, coffee and teas in a easy help yourself format.
SpringHill Suites by Marriott - Breaking away from the typical blueberry muffin and cereal flakes found in most hotel complimentary breakfasts, Marriott International's SpringHill Suites rolls out a yet unnamed buffet product with a menu that rotates by season. Begin your day with a free, fresh and absolutely fantastic hot breakfast at all SpringHill Suites hotels. The complimentary Suite Seasons breakfast includes hot breakfast items such as eggs, bacon, sausage as well as your continental fare including bagels, muffins and cold cereals.
Wingate Inn by Wyndham - Although Wingate Inns are mostly independently operated hotels, one thing they do have in common is their free breakfast options. Every guest at Wingate Inn hotels can enjoy an over 40+ item Hot & Fresh breakfast buffet including assorted pastries, scrambled eggs, sausage, and even a "make your own waffle" station every morning. The complimentary breakfast buffet are usually open from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. daily (please check individual Wingate by Wyndham hotels for exact breakfast times).
Days Inn - Days Inn budget hotels off a complementary breakfast spread every morning known as the Free Daybreak® Breakfast. The Daybreak breakfast in most Days Inn hotels off just cold items such as fresh fruit, a selection of toaster breads, bagels, English muffins, donuts, Danish or other pastries and a variety of Kellogg’s cereals. Of course guests will also enjoy fresh brewed Folgers regular and decaffeinated coffees. Please note that since some Days Inn do not provide a free breakfast (although it's rare), make sure you double check when booking your room.
